Digicel Foundation partners with CISCO to host Girls Power Tech
Digicel Business Solutions and CISCO have partnered to present the Digicel Foundation Girls Power Tech 2019.
The event--which is carded for Wednesday, May 29 at Signature Hall, Chaguanas--is a mentoring initiative under Digicel Foundation and, through the CISCO Network Academy, training is provided for form 3 and 4 students as well as teachers.
According to a release issued by the Foundation, the main goals of the Girls Power Tech Event is to inspire young girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics through hands-on exposure to the latest technology and engagement with industry professionals.
During this event, students will hear from innovative women working in ICT and engineering fields, learn about educational and career opportunities in the technology field and get mentored by professionals within the local industry. Students will also learn and experience transformative communication and collaboration technologies first hand, including Telepresence and Webex which will connect them with other mentors around the world.
Students can expect an exciting day of activities and fun, where they will be challenged to apply their creative ideas and skills to various new technologies, to solve social issues posed to them on the day.
