Digicel offering longer credit time with VAT upfront on prepaid top-up
Created : 20 December 2018
Telecommunications company Digicel has announced that it is changing the way Value Added Tax (VAT) is applied on its prepaid top-up vouchers.
Starting January 1, 2019, prepaid customers will pay VAT up front when purchasing top-up, instead of paying the VAT on the per minute calling rates.
This means that prepaid customers’ credit will last longer.
In keeping with this change, the total communications and entertainment provider has advised customers to only pay the amount stated on their top-up vouchers and the relevant VAT and to advise Digicel of re-sellers who are in breach of this agreement.
