Digicel is rallying its staff, customers and stakeholders to support the National Applause Initiative happening at 10 am on Thursday 9 April 2020.

In a release issued on Wednesday, the telecommunications and entertainment provider said it is giving customers one hour of free data between 9.30 am to 10.30 am on Thursday so they can use their smartphones to share their applause moments with loved ones and the rest of the world.

“Digicel is proud to support this initiative and we too applaud all of the frontline workers who are keeping us safe and the country moving at this time. As an essential service, Digicel has about two hundred frontline employees who have been working out in the field, at the stores and at various touchpoints to keep our customers connected, and for this, we say thank you,” states Colin Greaves, Digicel Head of Public Relations.

The National Applause Initiative, a project led by the Ansa McAl Group of Companies, I Support our Service (ISOS) and ReThink Consultancy, forms part of a global event where people around the world are cheering on those on the frontline who risk their lives for others during the pandemic.

“On Thursday morning at 10 am sharp, stop what you are doing and take a moment to applaud our country’s heroes. You can capture the moment, use your data to share it with your families and friends and don’t worry about any data charges on Digicel,” ended Greaves.
