Dil-e-Nadan, Roots and Phase Two to join Etienne Charles' Brass Mas

Come 2019, there will be more brass bands on the street Carnival Monday as Etienne and Friends Brass Mas expands to accommodate to more bands.

At the media launch of the band on Friday night, it was revealed that crossover band Dil-E-Nadan and the legendary Pelham Goddard and Roots will join the band on the road next year.

Also joining the band will be Hadco Phase Two.

Roots will feature Anselm Douglas on vocals.

David Michael Rudder will be featured on vocals with Etienne Charles' band.

The theme for Brass Mas 2019 is D Longtime Band.

Etienne and Friends Brass Mas began in 2017 when acclaimed jazz trumpeter Etienne Charles yearned to put brass back into the Carnival celebrations.

The band has grown in popularity over the last two years.

Peter Samuel, one of the committee members of the band, said the addition of the other bands was in response to the wishes of masqueraders.

Other additions in 2019 will be air-conditioned buses, portable washrooms, 100 security personnel and two registered nurses.

There will be a 40-foot trailer with beer, water, soft drinks, chasers, ice and light snacks.

The price for masqueraders will remain at $700 and masqueraders will receive a  tee-shirt, hat, backpack and cup.

To register: visit https://wethepeoplemas.com/ or the mas camp at 84 Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain. Tel: 360-0144.
