Dispute over missing money ends in stabbing

St James police are investigating a report of a stabbing which left a 57-year-old man hospitalised.

The suspect in this incident, however, is a close relative of the victim, police said.

He has since been arrested and is expected to be charged with the offence of wounding with intent.

The incident took place just before 4 pm on Wednesday at a home along Dundonald Hill, St James.

The two relatives were at the home when they had a discussion over a sum of cash which was missing.

The discussion became heated, which led to the assailant picking up a knife and stabbing the 57-year-old to the left abdomen.

The police and paramedics were notified and the injured man was rushed for medical treatment at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

The suspect was subsequently detained for questioning.

PC Thomas is continuing inquiries.
