DNA testing for burnt body found in Point Fortin
DNA testing has been ordered to confirm the identity of a man which was found in Point Fortin on Wednesday morning.
The body was found in the trunk of a car along Soomai Trace, Point Fortin.
However, the body was burnt beyond recognition, as the car had been set on fire.
That said, police believe the deceased is a 47-year-old man who was shot and kidnapped in Cap De Ville, Point Fortin, on Tuesday night.
Police officers were told that at about 8:00 pm on Tuesday, they received intelligence about a shooting along Farrell Street, Cap De Ville, Point Fortin.
Upon arriving, they met a 54-year-old woman who told them that she had been standing at the front gate of the home of a 47-year-old man when a white Nissan AD Wagon pulled up alongside the two.
Four men exited the car all armed with firearms and wearing face masks.
The two victims ran to the back of the home in an attempt to hide.
The woman told police she heard gunshots, followed by noises of pain, and then the sound of the vehicle driving away.
When she checked, her friend was nowhere to be seen.
There was a pool of blood on the ground and what appeared to be drag marks.
The police were notified and a party of officers led by Sgt Jones and Cpl Chase visited the scene.
Crime scene investigators recovered three spent 9mm shells, three .40mm shells, and one live round of 9mm ammunition.
