Doctor killed in road traffic accident

Police are trying to determine what caused a crash in Piarco on Sunday night which led to the death of a 38-year-old doctor.

The deceased has been identified as Dareem Charles, of Phase 3 Malabar, Arima.

According to police reports, at about 10.00 pm on Sunday, Charles was driving a Toyota Royal Saloon north along the St Helena Bypass Road, Piarco, when he lost control of the car.

He collided with a culvert on the eastern side of the roadway.

Persons who saw the accident notified the police and paramedics and the injured man was rushed to the Arima District Health Facility.

Unfortunately,  Charles was pronounced dead upon arrival.
