Doctor stabbed by bandit pretending to be patient
A doctor was injured during a robbery attempt on Tuesday morning in San Juan.
According to reports, around 11 am Dr Kris Sookdeo was at his office in San Juan, when a patient entered the building.
The man complained of stomach pains and was asked to take a seat in the waiting room.
However, after he was seated, he was seen going through the purse of a woman.
An alarm was raised and Dr Sookdeo confronted the suspect.
The suspect then pulled out a knife and slashed the doctor on his torso before escaping from the office.
He was forced to break the door to the front office as it was magnetically sealed.
The police were notified and Dr Sookdeo was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
Police are viewing CCTV footage on the incident with the aim of identifying the suspect and making an arrest soon.
A similar incident took place in early December when a viral video showed another doctor escaping two would-be bandits, one of whom posed as a patient to gain access to the doctor's office.
