Dom. Rep. national sought after mother attacked and house set ablaze

Police are searching for a Dominican Republic national who reportedly torched a house in St Helena after attacking a woman and her daughter.

According to police reports, at about 8:00 am on Tuesday, the 35-year-old suspect was at the home of a 52-year-old woman known to him when an argument broke out.

Rosie Saunders, a mother of three, was said to have been at home when the 35-year-old attacked her.

He reportedly hit her with a hammer then attacked her with a cutlass.

During the fracas, Saunders' 14-year-old daughter allegedly also sustained injuries.

The suspect then proceeded to light a fire, which destroyed the complex.

He then made good his escape.
