The main opposition party in Dominica has claimed that members of the Regional Security System (RSS) were brought to the island by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit to intimidate citizens.
Speaking on a radio program on Thursday, United Labour Party (ULP) leader Lennox Linton accused the RSS of engaging in “chemical warfare” against the people of Salisbury whose homes were teargassed in the early hours of the morning.
Linton said: “The majority of these people have absolutely nothing to do with any protest action. The protest action is taking place on the West End of Salisbury.”
“That is not peacekeeping. That is not maintenance of law and order. That is attacking people that is persecuting people.”
He added that Dominicans should look at the actions of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and see why he should not be given another term in office when they head to the polls, tomorrow.
