Dr Linda Savitri Baboolal, born on January 31, 1941, was described by her granddaughter as a force to be reckoned with at her funeral service on Monday.

Sasha Ramsaran said her grandmother's tenacity, integrity, compassion, reliability and empowerment of women shone through from a very young age.

“You were part of my triangle of female empowerment. A role model like no other. My heart does not know how to continue,” she said in a post according to a statement issued by Belgroves Funeral home.

Meanwhile, Dr Baboolal’s daughter, Sherylann Ramsaran, gave a message to the nation on behalf of her mom.

“To my beloved country, to whom I have served with all of my being, I wish to have given you so much more, but it’s time for the younger generation to take over this mantle. To give real service, you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is, sincerity and integrity. Remember that we are all one people of Trinidad and Tobago. United we stand, divided we fall.”

Present at the cremation was President Paula Mae-Weekes, who shared a moment with the Baboolal family as she joined them in saying their final goodbyes to the charismatic Dr Linda Baboolal.

Also in attendance was Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and his wife Sharon, as well as Ministers of Parliament and other notable dignitaries.
