Dredging works causes relocation of Galleons Passage

A contract has been awarded to Dutch Dredging B.V. for work at Queens Wharf and Caricom Wharves POS. The contract also approves ancillary works for the Government Shipping Service to an appropriate depth to cater for the existing and future cargo and passenger requirements.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Port Authority said the dredging project is expected to commence on Friday.

While the work is ongoing, the Galleons Passage will be relocated to Berth #3 at the Cruise Ship Complex. Meanwhile, the travelling public is advised that from Sunday and until further notice, there will be a temporary suspension of vehicles being transported on the Galleons Passage. The public is further advised that the processing of passengers will continue at the POS Terminal building and passengers will be shuttled to the Cruise Ship Complex. Travellers can rest assured that the T&T Spirit will continue its normal operations from the POS Ferry Terminal with passenger and vehicle capability.

The Galleons Passage will maintain its normal schedule, operating on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays departing POS at 9:00 am and from Scarborough at 4:00 pm on said days. Passengers who wish to send their vehicles to or from Tobago can be facilitated on the M.V. Cabo Star's Vehicles Only Service which departs POS at 2:00 pm from Monday to Friday and 12:30 pm on Sundays; and departing Scarborough Sunday to Friday at 11 pm.

Customers are also advised of the following process when travelling on board the Galleons Passage from POS:

Walk on Passengers:

Step 1 On day of sailing, have a confirmed ticket in hand.

Step 2 Check-in at the the Port of Spain Ferry Terminal two (2) hours prior to scheduled sailing time for checking-in. At this time bags are scanned and tagged to be taken to the vessel.

Step 3 Proceed to the Passenger Lounge to await the PTSC bus which will transport all passengers to the Cruise Ship Complex to access the vessel.

Step 4 Upon arrival at Cruise Ship Complex, passengers will proceed to pre-boarding security checks and then proceed to boarding the Galleons Passage.

Step 5 Arrive at destination and collect bags.

Passengers who are departing from Tobago on the Galleons Passage will disembark at Berth #3 at the Cruise Ship Complex, Dock Road, Port of Spain.
