Drones, police posts for Divali Nagar
Security arrangements have been put in place for the largest Divali celebration, the Divali Nagar, to ensure a safe and secure environment for patrons.
The annual event attracts a large attendance of over 10,000 persons each night.
This year, the event commenced on October 28 and ends on November 5, preceding the Divali holiday.
Police officers will be in full attendance on each day at the Divali Nagar Site, which is located at Narsaloo Ramaya Road, Endeavour, Chaguanas to preserve law and order and ensure the safety and security of all persons attending the celebrations and their vehicles.
Police officers will be strategically placed at various locations on each day, to ensure the free flow of traffic along Narsaloo Ramaya, Endeavour Road, Price Plaza Roundabout, and the Uriah Butler Highway, as well as to ensure the safe movement of pedestrians to and from the location.
No parking signs will be placed each day along the Eastern & Western Sides of Narsaloo Ramaya Road North & South of the Nagar site and also along both shoulders of the Uriah Butler Highway. Illegally parked vehicles will be wrecked and impounded at the Chaguanas Police Station.
Throughout the course of the Divali Nagar, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will be closely monitoring for unlawful activity through its drone technology.
A mobile post will be set up at the Divali Nagar site from where police officers would be deployed and members of the public can make reports or seek necessary assistance.
