Drop Taxi adjusts rates to distance and time fares
Local taxi operator Drop Taxi announced a change in their rate structure to distance and time fares for on-demand rides.
In a statement posted to their Facebook page on June 13, the company said the change was made in order to ensure maximum customer service and satisfaction.
"At Drop Taxi Service, we are committed to serving you and creating the best and safest possible environment for you to reach to your desired destination. As such, we have made changes and updates to our Fee Structure, Cancellation Fees & Policies and Hourly Hire service."
"The major change is that we are switching to distance and time with our base rate of $25 and $1.25 per km. Please check our website for the full fare structure details."
"These policy changes are intended to continue providing you with the best possible customer service and experience," the company said.
The rates are as follows:
0-6 km: $1.25
6-20 km: $3.00
over 20 km: $5.00
per minute: $1.10
The company added that during the hours of 1:00 am and 5:00 am there will be a 10 percent surcharge added to the regular rate card.
Customers can either request on-demand bookings or schedule bookings in advance. The company said it will be maintaining its zone structure for pre-booked rides only.
The move comes after Uber announced it would be pausing operations in Trinidad and Tobago in May.
