Fire officers are still trying to determine the cause of a blaze which reportedly destroyed a building along Edgar Street, Couva, Thursday morning.
While up to 9 am information was still coming in, sources said that around 4:15 am, fire officers from the Chaguanas Fire Station received information that a building was on fire.
Officers visited the scene with several appliances, however, while they were able to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further, the building was said to have been destroyed by the incident.
Fire officers are expected to examine the building to determine the cause of the blaze.
However, residents of the area reportedly told investigators that shortly before the fire began there was a power outage in the area.
