Early morning stabbing in POS leaves man in serious condition

One man is warded in a serious condition at the Port of Spain General Hospital following a stabbing incident on Monday morning.

The victim has been identified as Ian Pope of Laventille Road, Laventille.

According to police reports, at about 7:00 am Monday, Pope was standing along the pavement along George Street, Port of Spain, in the vicinity of the Health Center, when he got into a confrontation with a man.

During the confrontation, the assailant secured a sharp instrument and stabbed at Pope.

Pope received a deep cut to the right leg.

The assailant then fled the scene.

The police and emergency health services were immediately notified, and the wounded man was rushed to the hospital.

He is said to be warded in a serious condition, having lost a significant amount of blood from the injury.

Investigators are currently searching for the assailant.

An arrest is said to be imminent.
