EBC closes Siparia office after contact with COVID-19 case
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has temporarily closed its Siparia office after a staff member came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
Loop News was told that the staff member had not been out to work since last Monday.
In a statement shared via its website, the EBC said staff members at the office were instructed to self-quarantine at home after secondary exposure to the virus.
'The temporary closure of this Office has become necessary in the interest of public health and safety as the EBC’s staff assigned to this Registration Area Office has been advised by the County Medical Officer of Health for the County of St. Patrick to self-quarantine at home owing to secondary exposure to the COVID-19 virus.'
The EBC apologized for the inconvenience and said it will advise of its re-opening in a subsequent release.
The EBC said since the first case of the virus it has implemented mitigation measures in keeping with Ministry of Health’s protocols, adding that it 'remains resolute in its commitment to all our stakeholders in this fight against the spread of this virus'.
