Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on June 5.

The announcement was made at the Post Cabinet briefing on Thursday.

Communications Minister Stuart Young said the date was declared as the day for the public holiday this year after consultations with the Anjuman Sunnat-ul-Jamaat Association, Trinidad Muslim League and the Muslims of Trinidad and Tobago who unanimously agreed on that date.

Ramadan, the period of fasting, is set to begin next Monday.
