Elderly man found dead in Barrackpore
The body of a 69-year-old man was found in Barrackpore on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Jeewan Chaitoo, of Cunjal Road, Barrackpore.
An autopsy has been ordered to confirm the cause of death, however, from the initial examination of the body, police do not suspect foul play.
The body was found at about 12.30 pm on Wednesday by Chaitoo’s relatives.
Earlier that morning he told family members that he was going to tend to his livestock (namely cattle) in a location which is about 1,200 feet away from his home.
Later that day, relatives found him slumped against a mango tree.
He had blood on the left side of his face from what appeared to be a wound.
And while it is suspected this wound was caused he fell to the ground, an autopsy has been ordered to confirm this.
The scene was visited by a team of officers led by Cpl Singh and including WPC Changoor, PC Bridgemohan, WPC Mohammed, PC Bernard, and several others.
Cpl Singh is continuing inquiries.
