Elderly Penal man hogtied, beaten during robbery

Police are investigating a report in which a 61-year-old man was beaten and hogtied during a robbery on Sunday night.

The victim told police that he was at his mini-mart along La Fortune Road, Woodland around 7 pm, when two armed men entered the building.

They announced a hold up and proceeded to beat the man.

They then tied the elderly man up by his hands and feet and proceeded to rob the store.

From initial reports, at least $15,000 in cash stolen was stolen, as well as quantities of cigarettes and alcohol.

The men then the scene.

The victim raised an alarm and the police were notified.

He was taken to the Siparia Health Facility where he was medically examined for the injuries he sustained during the ordeal.
