Elderly woman beaten, robbed, says Woodbrook group
The Woodbrook Residents' Association said an elderly woman was brutally beaten and robbed at her home and is calling for anyone with information in the incident to contact the police.
In a post to social media, the group shared photos of the men who allegedly attacked an 85-year-old woman and her son, who is an amputee, at their home near Ariapita Avenue.
The group said the men hit the elderly woman on her head and choked her, causing broken bones.
The group is calling for anyone with information on the men to contact the police urgently.
"We would like you all to have a good look at the images below. These "men" broke into a house on Ariapita Avenue to commit a robbery. They viciously attacked an 85 year old woman and her amputee son. These "men" were particularly violent with the 85 year old woman as she was hit in the head with a gun butt, choked, cuts and broken bones. Please share these images so we can have these "men" where they belong... in jail," the group said.
The post has since gone viral online with over 2,000 shares.
Citizens spoke out in frustration over the incident, calling for something to be done.
Carolyn Martin: "Someone out there recognized them, I hope they're held very soon and dealt with."
Clarence Rampersad: "What really going on in this country my God help us the people cannot do the job alone."
Dianne Superville" I'm so tired of repeating this in Trinidad and Tobago. They don't want to work did just want to do stuff that is easy for them for me when they get them is to just throw away the damn key. 85 year old woman gosh . Don't worry he'll get them soon. Talk done."
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 555, 999 or 800-TIPS, or via the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service app: https://bit.ly/2RhJttt
