Escaped prisoner caught while enjoying Arima Borough Day festivities

Prisoner Dillon Clarke, who escaped from the Golden Grove Prison in Arouca on Thursday, has been found.

Clarke, 35, from Maturita, Arima, was held around 9.25 am Saturday along Hollis Avenue, Arima, amidst Arima Borough Day Celebrations.

He was said to be on the street dancing when he was spotted.

Officers of the Northern Division immediately sprung into action and detained Clarke.

He is currently being questioned, following which he will be charged with the offence of escaping lawful custody.

He is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Monday.

Clarke escaped custody around 7:50 am on Thursday when he made a successful ‘dash for freedom’ while working in the Prison’s Garden.

He was serving the last months of his two year sentence for malicious damage.
