Fake cops rob Wallerfield family at gunpoint
Police are investigating a report in which a family of six were robbed at gunpoint Thursday morning by persons who appeared to be dressed in police tactical wear.
The incident reportedly took place around 1 am at a house in Wallerfield.
The six persons, including two women, were asleep when they heard a pounding on the front door.
They then heard someone say the words “Police! Police! Open the door! We are here to search for arms!”.
The relatives looked outside at the men, refused to open the door thinking it was bandits.
However, one of the assailants managed to make his way to another door at the side of the house which he broke down.
The assailants then tied up the family and proceeded to rob the household.
During the ordeal they even threatened to kill some relatives if they continued to make noise.
The assailants ransacked the home, and after about an hour, they left.
The relatives were able to untie themselves and notify police.
A team of officers from the Eastern Division responded and are continuing inquiries.
