Family robbed at gunpoint

Northern Division police are investigating a report in which a 72-year-old man was tied up by armed assailants.

The incident reportedly took place around 2am yesterday.

According to reports, the 72-year-old man was at home with three other relatives, including his 58-year-old wife, when they were awakened by the sound of persons breaking into the home.

Three armed assailants then ordered the relatives onto the floor, before they tied them up, and proceeded to rob the home of several items including cash, jewelry and electronic household items.

The gunmen also stole one of the vehicles – a Nissan Navara – which was parked in the yard.

The family was able to untie themselves, following which they notified police.

An all-points bulletin was issued and several road blocks were conducted, however, it was said to be to no avail, as the suspects were not found.
