Farmer kills suspected plantain thief

A suspected thief was shot and killed by a 68-year-old Princes Town farmer in Borde Narve village on Friday.

According to reports, around 4:50pm the farmer received information that people were stealing from his garden at Borde Narve Branch Road.

The farmer along with his 35-year-old son went to the garden, where they discovered bunches of plantain concealed in the bushes.

The men heard a car approaching and hid in nearby bushes. Two men exited the vehicle.

The farmer called out to the men. One of the men reportedly pointed a firearm at him.

The farmer became fearful for his life and fired a single shot from his license shotgun in the direction of the men. The men ran off.

One of the suspects was discovered dead a short distance away. The 34-year-old driver of Marabella driver was later detained.
