FashionTT calls for applicants to Value Chain Investment Programme

The Trinidad and Tobago Fashion Company Limited (FashionTT) is inviting applications for the third cohort of its Value Chain Investment Programme (VCIP).

This programme is aimed at providing local designers with strategic assistance to improve their business performance at varying stages of development.

Since its commencement in 2016, the VCIP has been the cornerstone of the Strategic Plan for the Fashion Industry. The VCIP assesses local firms by an independent panel consisting of local and international fashion industry experts and categorizes each firm into one of the four levels of the programme:

The Global Value Chain (GVC) Support Programme

Non-Global Value Chain (non-GVC) Support Programme

Business Advisory and Financing Programme

Strategic Training Programme

The General Manager of FashionTT, Ms Lisa-Marie Daniel, said: “The fashion industry is filled with a vast array of creative professionals and this programme is meant to hone these innate talents and produce fashion designers who are focused on the business of fashion and not only the craft/talent side. To date, the programme has assisted over 100 designers in taking their business to the next level. The success stories coming from this initiative have been many and we look forward to working with more designers for cohort three.”

FashionTT has also partnered with the National Entrepreneurship Development Company Limited (NEDCO) to deliver the third and fourth tier of the VCIP, the Business Advisory and Financing Programme and Strategic Training Programme.

The programme is a collaborative initiative designed to enhance the products and services of local fashion businesses. It examines and identifies gaps in designers’ business model, structure and operations so that solutions can be addressed for a more sustainable business. A total of 90 designers have benefited from being a part of these programmes to date.

Under the programme, with the support from FashionTT and the guidance of VCIP consultant, professor Vincent Quan and NEDCO, each designer was able to make noteworthy advancements in the areas of social media presence, business planning and market growth, and technology.

All designers interested in obtaining support from FashionTT during the next fiscal year are required to participate in this open call and interview process.
