Father and son held with weed

Two Arima men are expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, after they were held with an estimated $27,000 in marijuana.

The suspects, a 21-year-old and his 60-year-old male relative, were arrested on Wednesday night by officers of the Biche Police Station during a police exercise in the district.

According to police reports, the officers, under the supervision of Snr Sup Garth Nelson, were conducting routine police exercises in the area, when they had cause to stop and search a Nissan motor vehicle.

During the search of the vehicle, which had the two occupants, the officers allegedly found and seized the drugs in several plastic bags.

The drugs were weighed and it was said to have an estimated weight of 2.7 kilogrammes.

As a result of the find, the two relatives were immediately arrested.
