Father jailed for incest, victim begs for dad to walk her down aisle
A father was sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison by a judge for indecently assaulting his daughter when she was a child.
The sentencing came despite a request by the 25-year-old victim for her father to be spared from jail so he could walk her down the aisle at her wedding in November.
The father touched his daughter’s breast on two occasions when she was eight and 10.
He also rubbed his genitals against her on another occasion.
The incident is reported to have occurred 13 years ago.
The victim told the judge that she had forgiven her father and it was aching her heart to see him go to jail.
She said she wanted her father to be able to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.
The woman added that her son and her father also has a close relationship.
She said if her mother had not left the home, she might not have been assaulted.
However, Justice Lisa Ramsumair-Hinds sentenced the man to one year and 11 months in prison, despite the victim’s tearful plea.
She urged the woman to not blame her mother for what happened.
The judge added that while the court appreciated the impact the events had on the victim and how much she would love for her father to attend the wedding, the court has its job to do to the rest of the society.
