Fire damages Tobago fire station

Tobago police are trying to determine what caused a fire at the Scarborough Fire Station on Sunday night.

At about 7.05 pm Sunday, fire officers observed smoke coming from the male dormitory of the building, located at Bacolet St, Scarborough.

Viral video footage shared online showed the fire and the aftermath.

An alarm was raised and fire officers on location quickly responded.

The fire was contained to the dormitory, with surrounding areas suffering water and smoke damages.

No casualties (injuries) were reported.

In a statement from the Fire Services on Sunday, it was said that the fire would not impact the response capabilities of the station.

“Notwithstanding the seriousness of what transpired, the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service is pleased to report that there were no casualties and assures the public that the fire had no adverse effect on our response capabilities".

More on this as it becomes available.
