Police suspect arson in Gasparillo fire
Gasparillo police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, around 2 am that day, residents along Guaracara Street found a wooden and concrete home belonging to Pradeep Singh on fire.
The fire began in the front of the home and quickly spread despite the efforts of neighbours to put out the flames. Some formed a bucket brigade while others used hoses and other devices available to them.
Unfortunately, the home was destroyed in the blaze.
Police said no injuries were reported and an estimate for losses is still being tallied.
What has caught the attention of the police was that another property next door to Singh’s was set afire three months ago by men dressed in white hoodies.
Police said on March 30 they received a report that three men had attempted to burn down another home on that street, using Molotov cocktails. At the time, the owner and residents were able to contain the blaze before it spread.
While the two incidents have not been confirmed to be linked, the circumstantial evidence is compelling, police said.
More on this as it becomes available.
