Fire at NP headquarters under investigation
An investigation has been launched by National Petroleum following an afternoon fire at its Sea Lots Tank Farm, located at its Port-of-Spain headquarters Thursday.
Fire tenders from the Wrightson Road Fire Station were called to the company’s Sea Lots base shortly after 1 pm when smoke was seen billowing from a tank on the southern side of the Tank Farm area.
NP said it followed Health Safety and Environment procedural guidelines, and immediately contacted the Fire Service.
The Company in a statement on Thursday said the fire was fully extinguished and emergency response personnel are carrying out investigations to determine the cause of the blaze.
NP has given the assurance that the fire will not hamper fuel supplies, adding that operations are running as normal with a “continuous and reliable supply of fuel”.
NP also expressed its gratitude for the prompt response of the Fire Services.
The Company said it remains focused on ensuring the timely delivery of fuel by land, by sea and by air to its service station network; airports in Trinidad and Tobago; industrial customers including the Port Authority; all hospitals; and all the protective services.
