Fire officers investigating the cause of Morvant house fire

Fire officers are investigating the cause of a blaze which completely destroyed a two-storey structure in Morvant on Wednesday morning.

According to police reports, at about 5:30 am today, residents of the area observed smoke coming from the ground floor of a home along St Francois Valley Road, Morvant.

The home was occupied by one man.

Officers from the Belmont Fire Station and the Morvant Fire Station responded, but by the time they arrived the entire building was on fire.

The officers went to work and they were able to quickly contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other nearby buildings.

Up to 2 pm today, the cause of the fire had not been confirmed.
