Firearm, drugs found near two separate parks in Central Trinidad

Police exercises in the Central Division on Saturday resulted in the seizure of a loaded firearm and a quantity of marijuana.

According to police reports, the exercise was supervised by Snr Sup Balram, and took place between 1 pm and 9 pm on Saturday.

During the course of the exercise, officers from the Central Division Task Force received information which led them to a basketball court in the Dow Village community.

A search was conducted and the officers allegedly found and seized a .38mm revolver, loaded with four rounds of ammunition, hidden in a bucket near the basketball court.

The loaded weapon was immediately seized.

Then, the same party of officers, acting on information received, made their way to park in the Frederick Settlement, Caroni community.

A search was conducted and the officers allegedly found and seized a plastic bag with 76 grammes of marijuana.

No arrests were made in connection with either of the finds.
