Firearm found at nightclub, one man arrested

A 26-year-old man is in police custody after a firearm was seized at a nightclub during an anti-crime exercise in the Sangre Grande district on Saturday morning.

According to reports, a police officer attached to the Arima Police Station conducted a search of an area at a nightclub at Savi Street, Sangre Grande around 2:15 am.

The search resulted in the discovery of a homemade shotgun in a box.

The police officer alerted officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station, who in collaboration with the Sangre Grande CID and Task Force visited the nightclub.

They arrested a 26-year-old male suspect at the nightclub in connection with the find.

The suspect is expected to be charged.
