Firearm manufactured in Venezuela seized in Couva

Police exercises by officers of the Central Division Wednesday night resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm, which was originally manufactured in Venezuela.

The weapon, a black Zamorana pistol, was found and seized in an abandoned building along Teelucksingh Street East, California, Couva.

According to police reports, officers of the Central Division Task force, under the supervisions of Snr Sup Balram and ASP Smith, received intelligence which led them to the area around 8 pm on Wednesday.

The officers conducted a search, and hidden in an abandoned structure off the roadway, they found and seized the illegal weapon.

The weapon is expected to be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it can be linked to previous reports of criminal activities in the district.

No arrests were made in connection with this find.
