Fisherman in court for chopping friend

A fisherman has been charged with assault with intent, after he chopped another fisherman in Cedros last week.

Collin Girdharry  appeared before Taramatee Ramdass in the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with maliciously wounding Andy Edwards.

The charge stemmed from a fight between the two men last Wednesday at a bar in Cedros.

During the fight, Edwards was chopped by Girdharry and forced to seek medical treatment at the Point Fortin Hospital.

Girdharry, a father of four, was charged, and plead not guilty to the offences on his first appearance.

He was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 and ordered to stay at least 100 feet away from Edwards.

After further submissions to the court, the matter was adjourned to December 10.
