Five held after robbery at Chinese grocery

Five men are currently in police custody following a daring robbery in Barataria Friday morning.

While information is still coming in, the five suspects, who were said to be armed with firearms, were intercepted in a silver-grey Mistusbushi Lancer around 11am, along Pashley Street, Laventille.

Moments before, the men were said to have been involved in the robbery of a Chinese grocery located at the corner of Ninth Street and Ninth Avenue, Barataria.

Four armed men had entered the compound and announced a hold up and relieved the proprietors of a quantity of cash and valuables.

They then fled the scene in the Lancer which was waiting outside.

The vehicle was last seen heading west on the Beetham Highway.

The police were notified and an all points bulletin was issued and officers from the Port of Spain Division responded.
