Five held with cutlasses, ammo

Five people are in police custody after they were held with cutlasses and a quantity of ammunition.

The five who are Cunaripo Village, Sangre Grande, were held around 7 pm on Friday.

Police said that they received intelligence that a group of armed men was walking along the roadway.

Upon arriving, officers saw a group of men who were yelling at one another in a threatening manner.

The officers responded and were able to detain five men – between the ages of 18 and 21.

Four men were armed with cutlasses, while one man had a quantity of ammunition in his possession.

They were immediately arrested as a result and are due before the courts on Tuesday.

The operation involved the Eastern Division’s Special Operations Unit, led by Cpl Ramnarine, and included PC Singh, PC Lezama, and PC Samuel.
