Five inmates hospitalised for Tuberculosis

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service advises that five inmates have tested positive for Tuberculosis (TB).

Four of the inmates were housed at the Maximum Security Prison while the other was housed at the Remand Facility.

The Prison Service said infected inmates were immediately taken to the Caura Medical Facility for treatment and Welfare Officers have been assigned to inform their immediate families.

The areas where they were housed were sanitised and continuous testing and screenings are being conducted.

Commissioner of Prisons (Ag), Dennis Pulchan has commended his officers on the professional manner in handling the situation and has given assurance that it is being managed and monitored.
