Five men arrested at marijuana camp in Arima

Police arrested five men and destroyed a quantity of dried marijuana and marijuana trees during an anti-crime exercise in the Arima district on Friday.

The exercise was conducted by officers of the Northern Division Task Force between 6am and 1:30pm, and included officers of the Special Investigations Unit.

During the exercise, officers acting on intelligence, proceeded 450 meters into a densely forested area off Noreiga Trace, Arima.

There, they discovered a marijuana field and a camp occupied by five male suspects.

A search of the camp resulted in officers finding four kilogrammes of dried marijuana, while the field was found to have 150 fully grown marijuana trees.

The five suspects; ages 25 to 70 years old, all of the Arima district, were arrested in connection with the finds.
