Five men questioned for officer's murder released
Five men from the Carapo Mosque who had been detained for questioning following the murder of PC Kryston Ramirez, have been released.
The five, between the ages of 27 and 38, were released from the La Horquetta Police Station around 8pm last night.
Two persons – a 20-year-old and a 16-year-old – remain in police custody.
They are both being represented by defence attorney Fareed Ali.
Ali said despite the efforts of the police both suspects have exercised their right to silence and have left the police to strict proof of their involvement.
He maintained that his clients have nothing to prove to investigators and will not be voluntarily participating in any process the police choose to engage with.
Ali noted that a warrant was executed on residence of the 20-year-old man around 8pm on Wednesday, in an effort to find things of evidential value.
He also underscored that his clients continued to be denied basic constitutional rights such as access to regular meals and bath – which he said is a clear breach of one’s constitutional rights and privileges.
