Flood Alert in effect until Tuesday as some areas still under water

The Met Office issued a Riverine Flood Alert #4-Orange Level on Sunday.

This as it noted that parts of southern Trinidad are still experiencing some level of flooding.

It took effect from 2 p.m. on Sunday and is expected to end at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Met Office said water levels are generally on the decrease, however additional rainfall is likely overnight and on Monday, which may exacerbate the current situation.

Citizens are urged to carefully weather conditions and river/water levels.

They are also urged to monitor updates from official sources and plan safety measures, including emergency supplies of food and water.

Several parts of South Trinidad including Woodland and Barrackpore are still under water.

On Sunday, Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan visited the Woodland area to distribute relief supplies to those affected.
