Four persons are currently in custody after they allegedly robbed and assaulted a Rio Claro businessman on Tuesday morning.
The four suspects, police said, are between the ages of 23 and 40, and are all from the Malabar district.
They were arrested by a team of officers from the Rio Claro CID and the Eastern Division Task Force, under the supervision of Snr Sup Garth Nelson.
According to reports, at about 11:00 am on Tuesday, the suspects entered Bachoo’s hardware at Poole Village and announced a hold-up.

However, during the robbery, he was beaten.
The suspects, cash in hand, then escaped in two vehicles which were waiting outside.
The police were notified and an all points bulletin was issued.
Roadblocks were set up from Mayaro to Sangre Grande as police kept a keen eye for the robbers.
About an hour later, officers in Pierreville, Mayaro, observed two vehicles matching the description given in the bulletin.
The officers, led by Sgt Harper and Cpl Narine, intercepted the two cars.
One man attempted to flee the scene, however, he was captured a short distance away.
On his person, the lawmen allegedly found and seized a pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.
