Four arrested for gun, ammo possession
Police exercises in the North Eastern and Southern Divisions have led to the arrests of four men in two separate incidents in connection with the discovery of two firearms and a quantity of ammunition.
In the first incident, two men were arrested and a firearm along with a quantity of ammunition seized during an anti-crime exercise carried out by officers of the South Highway Patrol on Friday.
The lawmen were on exercise duty along the SS Erin Road, Debe, when they had cause to stop a Toyota Hilux.
The officers searched the van and found a .38 revolver containing three rounds of ammunition.
The two male occupants of the vehicle were arrested and taken to the Debe Police Post, where they were charged for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In the second incident, two men were arrested and a gun, along with a quantity of ammunition was seized during an anti-crime exercise conducted in San Juan by officers of the North Eastern Division on Saturday.
Officers were on patrol when they had cause to stop and search a white AD Wagon.
The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found one firearm with four rounds of .22 ammunition in the front passenger seat.
The two men, 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, both from San Juan, were arrested and taken to the San Juan Police Station to await charges.
