Four held after car chase in Carapo
Four persons were arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized after police intercepted two vehicles proceeding along Race Course Road, Carapo over the weekend.
According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Cpl (Ag.) Justin Durity, in company with PC Andre Modeste and PC Keron George of the La Horquetta Police Station, were on mobile patrol around 9:45 pm, on Saturday night when they observed the occupants of two vehicles; a silver Nissan Tiida and a white Nissan AD wagon, travelling in a northerly direction.
The officers had cause to stop the AD Wagon, which was being driven by a 20-year-old La Horquetta man, while the second vehicle with three male occupants attempted to evade the police.
However, the vehicle was also eventually stopped and searches of both vehicles were conducted.
The searches resulted in one pistol, along with a magazine containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition, being found in the silver Nissan Tiida.
The driver of the AD Wagon, along with the three occupants of the Tiida; a 26-year-old and a 25-year-old, both of La Horquetta and a 17-year-old of Maloney Gardens, were arrested in connection with the finds.
