Four held: Guns, drugs and ammo seized in Central anti-crime exercise

Four persons, including an 18-year-old female, were arrested and quantities of marijuana, cocaine and ammunition were discovered by officers of the Central Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise in the Division, yesterday.

The exercise was conducted between 1 pm and 4 pm on Wednesday. The officers first executed a search warrant at a house at Soogrim Trace Extension, Endeavour, Chaguanas, where they recovered 6.1 kilogrammes of marijuana, 574 grammes of cocaine, eight rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and nine rounds of .38mm ammunition.

The marijuana has an estimated street value of $61,000.

Four persons who were found in the house at the time of the exercise were arrested. Among them was an 18-year-old female.

Officers then proceeded to a bushy area at Oleander Drive, Caroni Savannah Road, where they recovered a quantity of marijuana and a magazine containing 25 rounds of 9mm ammunition. No arrests were made in connection with the find.

The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent Kenny Mc Intyre, and included officers of the Chaguanas CID.
