Four held at mosque after alleged kidnapping attempt

Police detained four men for questioning after reports were received of an attempted kidnapping on Friday.

The four were arrested in a mosque in Enterprise.

Police officers were told that the victim, a Chaguanas meat vendor, received a call around 3:00 pm on Friday to meet someone known to him about money.

The man picked up his cousin and friend and went to Jerningham Rd, Cunupia, to meet with the other party.

However, they instead met with four men.

The four men confronted the trio, but the vendor managed to escape - however his cousin and friend were left behind and kidnapped.

The man notified the police and a team of officers led by ASP Parriman, ASP Smith and Inspector Gokool responded.

The vendor was held in some bushes and gave police information, resulting in a visit to a mosque in Enterprise.

The two kidnapped men were found along the roadway, while the four suspects, between the ages of 18 and 35, were held.

More on this as it becomes available.
