Four held for possession of illicit drugs in South Trinidad
Police are once again reminding citizens that under current laws in this country, citizens are only allowed to have up to 30 grammes of marijuana and up to four marijuana plants.
This reminder comes after two men were held with an estimated 450 grammes of marijuana during a police exercise in the Southern Division.
It took place between 2pm and 8pm on Tuesday. Officers from the Southern Division Task Force visited Marabella, La Romaine and Vistabella.
The officers detained two men, 34 and 25, from West Bayshore, Marabella for possession of 448 grammes of marijuana.
Additionally, a 27-year-old man, from Cattleyea Drive, Pleasantville, was held for possession of five grammes of cocaine. He was also detained for resisting arrest.
A 20-year-old man from Wharton Street, Vistabella, was held with three grammes of cocaine.
All four suspects are expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today.
Officers also proceeded to Tuesday Street, Cipero Road, in Victoria Village, where a search was conducted in a bushy area off the roadway.
A green duffel bag containing one pump action shotgun loaded with two rounds of 12 gauge Remington cartridges was found and seized.
The operation was coordinated by Snr Supt Gaffar, and Supt Doodhai, and included ASP Ali Mohammed, Insp Teeluck, Sgt Joseph, Cpl Charles, PC Branch, PC Raghonanan, PC Legendre, PC Samaroo, WPC Maxwell, PC Ramdhanie, PC Guerra, PC Loutan and PC Baisden, PC Phagoo, PC Lake.
