Fraud Squad officer charged with assault
A senior superintendent of police attached to the Fraud Squad has been charged for assault and malicious damage.
The officer is a 57-year-old man with 37 years of service in the TTPS, according to police reports.
He was charged along with his 49-year-old wife.
They were both arrested on Monday at their home, following which the Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard, gave the advice to charge the two.
The incidents stem from a confrontation the couple had with a 49-year-old woman on March 24, 2018, during which the woman claimed she was beaten and that her spectacles and cellular phone were damaged.
The charges were laid by ASP Anthony Remy, following an investigation led by ACP Totaram Dookhie, Inspector Hills, Sgt Rollocks, and W-Cpl Carthy.
More on this as it becomes available.
