Fyzabad man charged with murder

A Fyzabad man was scheduled to appear before a Siparia Magistrate on Monday, charged with the murder of Neathasingh Ramsingh.

According to a statement issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), 51-year-old Bickram Balkissoon, of Lumtack Hill, was charged with murder following advice received from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Angelica Teelucksingh on February 9, 2019.

Police were told that 51-year-old Ramsingh, a straightener of South Oropouche, was at St. John Village, Avocat, on Februry 4, 2019, when he got into an altercation with a man.

During the incident, the man took out a knife and stabbed the victim in his abdomen before running off. Ramsingh died at the scene.

The accused subsequently surrendered himself to police on the same date and was arrested in connection with the incident.

Balkissoon was charged by PC Akash Ramsubagh, of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 3, on February 9, 2019.
